Monetary renamed itself from DebtBook on October 13, 2026. Vendor pages change, so confirm standards, packages and pricing with each vendor before you sign.
Six questions settle it, and most of them can be answered from public pages before any sales call.
Monetary now sells debt, cash and investment management with lease and subscription accounting on top. If you only need GASB 87 and GASB 96, you are shopping for one module of a treasury suite, and a lease focused vendor may quote less.
Monetary, FinQuery and Visual Lease now extract lease terms with AI inside their own platforms. EZLease and Cradle name no abstraction, so someone on your team types the terms into an import file. Ask every vendor to run your hardest lease live.
Of the six options on this page, Cradle prints a full dollar price and FinQuery prints one for its small LeaseGuru product. Monetary, Visual Lease and EZLease quote. Count your agreements first, because every quote scales with them.
The Monetary Starter package stops at 15 agreements and 2 users and does not include AI data entry. Complete adds unlimited agreements and users. A county with 40 leases and 60 SBITAs is a Complete customer, so price that tier.
Before you renew, export every lease, schedule and journal entry history from your current system. Ask the new vendor which import template it uses and test it with five real leases, including one with a remeasurement.
Monetary gives auditors read only access on demand. Ask any alternative how auditors see the population, the roll forward and the note disclosures, and whether that access costs extra.
Do the cheap steps first so every demo answers your questions instead of the vendor script.
List every lease and subscription arrangement by fund and department. Every vendor on this page prices on agreement count, so this is your first quote input.
Upload a clean lease, one with an amendment and one with a purchase option here. You get the full field list and one file to hand every vendor.
Ask Monetary and each alternative to load those leases live and show the schedule, the journal entry and the GASB 87 note disclosure they produce.
Same agreement count, users, standards and term. Compare first year cost including implementation, then the renewal number.
Direct answers for a government or nonprofit controller weighing a DebtBook renewal, checked against each vendor site in October 2026.
Short answer: DebtBook is now called Monetary. The company renamed itself on October 13, 2026 and says it is a rename, not an acquisition, so your contract and data carry over. The real DebtBook alternatives for GASB 87 and GASB 96 lease accounting are FinQuery, Visual Lease, EZLease and Cradle. Cradle is the only one that prints a full price, and Monetary, FinQuery and Visual Lease all extract lease terms with AI inside their platforms.

Yes. debtbook.com now redirects to monetaryhq.com, and the rebrand page is headed DebtBook is now Monetary. In a CEO letter dated October 13, 2026 the company says DebtBook was built in 2019 for public sector debt, added lease and subscription accounting for GASB 87, GASB 96 and ASC 842, and outgrew the name as it added cash and investment management. It describes the change as a rename, not an acquisition and not a pivot.
For a government or nonprofit that only needs lease and subscription accounting, the shortlist is FinQuery, Visual Lease, EZLease and Cradle. FinQuery names GASB 87 and sells a separate GASB 96 product, and it also sells debt management, which makes it the closest like for like rival. Visual Lease names GASB 87 and GASB 96 and is owned by CoStar Group. EZLease names both standards and offers a 15 day trial. Cradle has GASB 87 and GASB 96 pages and a published price. Our GASB 87 lease accounting software guide goes deeper on the calculation side.
Monetary does not publish a dollar price for any product. Its pricing page offers a custom quote and says price depends on the size of your organization and the features you need. What it does publish is the shape of the lease and subscription module: Starter for up to 15 agreements with 2 users, and Complete with unlimited agreements and users plus AI data entry, ERP export format, reconciliation and SBITA project management. Our DebtBook pricing breakdown covers the full package list and what to ask for in a quote.
Yes, on the Complete package. Monetary says you upload the signed agreement and it extracts the commencement date, term, payment schedule, escalations and purchase or renewal options, with each value linked to the page it came from. That covers the fields the GASB 87 schedule needs. It does not describe pulling the wider lease abstract, such as maintenance duties, insurance requirements, assignment rights or notice addresses, which facilities and risk teams also rely on.
A rebrand changes nothing in your contract on day one, but it does change the roadmap. Monetary is putting its weight behind a treasury platform and its AI analyst. If your finance office bought DebtBook only for GASB 87 and GASB 96, renewal is the right moment to check whether a lease focused vendor fits better, or whether the wider suite is worth it. Either way, the cheapest lever is clean lease data. Teams that abstract their leases into structured fields before the demos can load the same data into any vendor and compare outputs instead of sales decks.
We do not calculate GASB 87 balances, and we are not trying to replace your accounting system. We read the lease. Upload a PDF and you get rent schedules, escalations, options, critical dates and clauses as fields, each tied to its source page, exported to Excel, CSV or JSON in the column order your import template expects. That makes a migration out of DebtBook, or into it, a mapping exercise rather than a re-keying project. For a large backlog, the bulk lease upload runs a whole folder in one pass.
Yes. DebtBook renamed itself Monetary on October 13, 2026. debtbook.com redirects to monetaryhq.com, and the company says it is a rename, not an acquisition, so contracts, accounts and data carry over unchanged. The lease product is now listed as Monetary GASB 87 Lease Management.
For lease accounting alone, FinQuery is the closest match because it covers GASB 87, sells a GASB 96 product and also sells debt management. Visual Lease suits larger portfolios, EZLease suits teams that want a trial, and Cradle suits small portfolios that want a published price.
Monetary publishes no dollar price. Every product is sold by custom quote. The lease and subscription module comes in two packages: Starter for up to 15 agreements and 2 users, and Complete with unlimited agreements and users plus AI data entry. There is no free trial.
Yes. Monetary says it supports ASC 842 lessee and lessor accounting for FASB nonprofits in the same platform as GASB 87, with the same capture, schedules and disclosures. That matters for private universities and nonprofit hospitals that report under FASB.
Yes, but plan it. Export your lease list, schedules and journal entry history before the renewal date, then test the new vendor import with five real leases, including one with a remeasurement. Abstracting the source PDFs again gives you a clean, cited copy of every term.
Yes. Upload a lease, check each extracted field against its cited page, and export Excel, CSV or JSON for the import step of Monetary or any alternative. It is the same data either way, so you can switch vendors without retyping a lease.

Everything you need to know before you subscribe, or ask our support team about anything specific.
Ask a questionEach plan includes a monthly allowance of pages, and the number you get depends on which AI model you choose at extraction time. Base AI processes pages faster; Pro AI delivers the highest field-level accuracy. Your allowance resets on your billing anniversary each month, unused pages do not roll over. A typical commercial lease runs 20 to 60 pages including amendments, so the Starter plan's 2,500 Base AI pages cover roughly 40 to 120 leases a month.
Once your included pages are used up, extraction pauses until the next billing cycle. You can upgrade your plan at any time mid-month, the higher allowance kicks in immediately and you are only charged the prorated difference for the remainder of the period.
Yes. You can switch from monthly to yearly billing at any time on the Billing page. The yearly price is charged the same day, minus the unused part of your current month, and the 50% yearly rate applies right away. All payments are final: cancelling stops the next renewal, and access continues until the end of the period already paid.
All plans export to Excel XLSX and CSV. Plus adds QuickBooks (QBO) export and financial reports. Pro unlocks JSON output via REST API so you can push structured data directly into any ERP, RPA platform or internal system.
We do not use your documents to train or improve our own models, and files are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Extraction runs through a third-party model provider, so review their terms if your policy requires a contractual no-training commitment. You control retention: documents can be deleted from the workspace at any time, and we will remove everything on request.

You buy it online like any other plan, and you can move between Pro and Enterprise at any time from your billing page, paying only the prorated difference.
